Frequently asked questions

Can I change the category Preso assigns a transaction?

Yes. Open any transaction and pick a different category or subcategory. You can also relabel at the merchant level, which applies your choice to every transaction from that merchant.

What does marking a subcategory essential do?

Preso splits your budget into essential and non-essential spending. Marking a subcategory essential moves it — and its transactions — to the needs side of your plan, which changes your baseline budget recommendations and how your tracker scores the month.

Do my edits apply to future transactions?

Merchant-level relabels do — new charges from that merchant inherit your category automatically. Single-transaction edits apply to just that transaction, so one-off exceptions stay exceptions.

Is it safe to connect my bank account?

Yes. Preso connects through Plaid, the same service used by Venmo and American Express. You sign in on your bank’s own page, we never see or store your credentials, and access is read-only. You can disconnect at any time in Settings.
